Pastor Meketa Swords - Children's Ministry - email Pastor Meketa

Meketa Swords, Children's Pastor, has served on the staff since February 2000, and the children ministry since 2002.
Meketa is married and blessed with three awesome children, a wonderful husband and the best children's ministry staff. She and her husband Carlton have been married for 28 years. Their children: Bethany, 25; Jennifer, 21, both the girls are missionaries in Sofia, Bulgaria; Ryne, 19 is so far still here.

Meketa began in children's ministry over 15 years ago, after answering God's call to the ministry. She began working as a volunteer for children's ministry, a puppet team and then in youth ministry. She began working at Lighthouse, shortly after God sent her family here in July 1999. Her passions include family, children, missions (a new found passion), visiting orphanages and clowning around, clowning seems to bring another element to teaching.

Favorite Scripture: Hebrews 13:8. Because Jesus NEVER changes and neither does his promises.
Favorite Bible Story: If only picking one or two: The story of Samuel and the story of Gideon.
Favorite Color: Blue, so is God's. (so, the kids are told. More things are blue than any other color in the world.)
Favorite Food: Cube Steak and gravy, with creamed potatoes.
Favorite Movies: Batman Begins and a Night with the King.
Favorite Cartoons: Most all of them.

My vision for children's ministry is to show every child who God is and how real He is. To teach them to pray, their most power tool.

My personal vision is to pour my passion for God out in a way that is contagious.

My goals: To be a great mom and wife. To minister the truths of God on a level with passion, understanding and love that it triggers a desire to go and learn more about God and His word. To take the largest crown possible to heaven to lay at the feet of Jesus.
To help childern understand who they are in the body of Christ and what they are promised by the word of their Lord.
That children were all made special, Jeremiah. 1:5; Jeremiah. 29:11-12
To tell the world through prayer, faith and love anything is possible.
